Essence of Sardinia 2026

New year, better luck: For the second edition of Essence of Sardinia, the weather cooperated and showed its best side. Did that lift participants’ spirits? Of course! A few other adjustments also helped put both buyers and suppliers in a much better mood than last year. LuxusInsider was on the ground in Sardinia and brought back the highlights.

Essence of Sardinia 2026 in a Nutshell

500

Participants

…traveled to Sardinia – around 150 fewer than last year. Europe represented the largest share at 50 percent, followed by Asia-Pacific at 28 percent and South America at 22 percent. Seventy percent were first-timers.

80+

Countries

...are represented in Traveller Made’s international network. The Serandipians community has 580 members and is closed to new ones, except those from North America and "new" countries.

260

Takumians

...have joined Traveller Made’s second, still young luxury network. And it’s growing rapidly: Last year, there were just 180 Takumians. Good to know: no membership cap is currently planned.

Memorable Moments

Welcome to Sardinia!

Sunshine welcomes attendees to Forte Village Resort, the venue for Essence of Sardinia. This year, they could choose at registration whether to stay there or at partner hotels. Staying off-site, however, also means factoring in transfer times.

Conference Vibes

No sooner have participants arrived than Essence of Sardinia kicks off with a conference. Alongside news from Traveller Made’s network, keynotes explore a broader theme. This time, it’s "Audacity" – learning to be bold, Traveller Made style.

Party at the Beach

Lapping waves, cool live music, and a beach buffet – a relaxed kickoff to a week of meetings and networking. The Sarda Banda Party’s highlight: the Idolon Awards, honoring members who have distinguished themselves.

Unlimited Meetings

No sleeping in: Meetings between partners and buyers start at 8:45 a.m., with 14 minutes for each conversation. A bonus for agents: Unlike at other events, they can just stay at their tables while suppliers move around.

Happy Birthday!

You rarely get this many birthday guests: The Traveller Made team surprises Élodie Lehembre of Carlton Cannes with a birthday cake. In Sardinia, too, the ritual applies: Blow out the candle, close your eyes, and make a silent wish!

Audacity meets Agents

Obviously, the dress code for the final night’s Serandiparty is "Audacity". Everyone interprets it differently, of course, making for plenty of eye-catching looks. A fun night with a DJ, a show, and a glass or two of bubbly liquids. Cheers!

Attendees' Attitude

Adriana Sladovnikova · Faveo Concierge

"Overall, I really like Essence of Luxury. We’ve been part of Serandipians for more than ten years and are even an Epic Agency this year. I value the community of like-minded travel advisors and partners. Last year, I was also in Phuket. That was interesting – a lovely destination and different partners. I attend Essence to do business and find fresh inspiration. In the luxury segment, business grows out of contacts, networks, and personal connections."

Carolin Siarsky · Elegant Travel

"I find the meetings really interesting and have met very nice people. The conversations are great. It’s very easy to connect with other attendees, including during breaks. Everything is very well organized, too. Of course, transfers to the nearby hotels take time, so staying at Forte Village would be nicer. I find the app very detailed, with the one-to-one meetings and the option to take notes directly in it. Everything is clearly laid out."

Jason Holland · Travel Simplicity

"The show is fantastic. I wasn’t here last year but I’ve been a Serandipians member for ten years. Last year, I went to the Panama show – the overall organization makes a big difference. Traveller Made represents truly tailor-made, one-of-a-kind travel experiences and the people who create them. The opening day is a good example: We hear from people in the luxury industry who have nothing to do with travel. It’s interesting to gain a fresh perspective this way."

Ruza Faath · Silversea

"The organization is very good, as is the meeting setup. Personally, I don’t think the hotel is perfect for the event because the distances are quite long – even with the golf carts. But I’m having good conversations and have already met a few people from my market who’d been on my radar but whom I’d never met in person. Once you know each other, sending an email or saying, 'Let’s do something together,' feels very different."

An Industry Chat with Quentin Desurmont

Quentin Desurmont, Founder Traveller Made

"This is our second time here, and everything is running smoothly. The weather is cooperating, too. Feedback so far has been excellent, but we need to wait for the official evaluation. Then we’ll have figures to analyze. Based on last year’s experience, and because agencies and participants want to discover more properties, we selected three additional hotels for accommodation this year. Some participants are here at Forte Village; others are staying at the Hilton, Conrad Chia Laguna, and Is Molas. And the team here at Forte Village has done a really good job this year. Participants could choose where to stay when they registered. Forte Village also responded to some of last year’s negative feedback. Numerous rooms, for example, have been refreshed. Overall, I think there's more being invested than before. That could continue in the future. Staffing has also increased so they can take better care of us. You can tell that management wants to raise standards step by step, a little more each year. Whether we’ll be back here next year hasn’t been decided yet, but it’s quite possible. The shows in Phuket and Panama will continue as before.

I know not everyone likes the new format with three shows. But we’re international. In my view, we’re the only truly international network. We can’t bring everyone together in one place. Our members already travel a lot. Partners can now attend the events while keeping travel costs down, as we work with suppliers from each region. Here, too, we sent out questionnaires beforehand: 85 percent of members wanted precisely this option. But there’s something I’d like to add about last year’s Essence of Sardinia: After the event, we sent out a questionnaire covering two areas – accommodation and the experience on-site, and the scheduled meetings. Those meetings are our core; they’re what our work is about. Satisfaction with the meetings was already very high last year. This year, too, the algorithm brought suitable people together. Ideally, both sides want to meet. For the remaining appointments, at least one side requested the meeting. So no meetings are randomly assigned. That matters to participants. The questionnaire covers every aspect. The one-to-one meetings received very good ratings, as did the parties and the conference. We review this every year. Our event program already received very good ratings last year.

And we’re developing beyond the three shows, too. Some time ago, we created Haute Villegiature, a top tier for our industry based on a scientific approach. These ten agencies qualified through a distinctive travel project that tells a story. We now want to extend this program to hotels. We won’t dictate anything; our members should come to us with suggestions for particularly outstanding hotels. They recommend these based on criteria developed by a scientific panel. In time, Haute Villegiature should include more than ten agencies. I think extending it to hotels will raise awareness. Then it will be easier to approach agencies again, and more will get involved. That takes time. Hotels also need to understand it first, as they’re already familiar with many labels. We’re not a label. Our approach differs significantly from others. And our initiative is for the entire industry, not just the partners in our network."
