Discovery of the Month

Set within the Borana Conservancy in northern Kenya, Lengishu is a luxurious safari villa available exclusively on a full buy-out basis. Those who make the journey don’t just get the residence itself, but also the surrounding wilderness – including a rhino conservation area – almost entirely to themselves. Access is by helicopter or charter flight to the Borana Conservancy airstrip.

The Accommodations

Booking Lengishu means plenty of space for up to twelve guests in standard occupancy, with a maximum capacity of 16. Accommodation is spread across six rooms set within four cottages. Two of them (Goshawk and Fish Eagle) sit close to the main house, while the others are located in the slightly more secluded Lower Cottage and Upper Cottage. Each is thoughtfully positioned to make the most of the sweeping views of the surrounding Kenyan wilderness – whether through expansive glass fronts or from a private veranda. A particularly lovely touch: all rooms face east, so sunrise is never missed – including from the perfectly placed bathtub. For cooler days, every single room also comes with a fireplace. It’s a setup that balances privacy, comfort, and a strong sense of place with African Magic.

The Culinary

Restaurant? Not here! Instead, there’s private chef Sam, who tailors every detail to his guests’ wishes and accommodates any special requests. He works with seasonal ingredients sourced from local organic farms, creating a refined fusion of European fine dining and African cuisine. Plus: the daily schedule is entirely up to the guests. Breakfast can be served as a bush breakfast, lunches come as picnics on the go, and dinner can be set up in unique locations on request. A standout moment is the sundowner, arranged by the Lengishu team at a private spot overlooking Mount Kenya, capturing all the magic the country has to offer.

The Experiences

First things first: massages are included! Two therapists make sure tired muscles unwind again – especially after a bush walk through the savannah. Game drives by day and night are, of course, part of the Lengishu experience – and thanks to the exclusive buy-out, entirely private. Those looking for something extra can book rhino tracking, learning how to spot these incredible animals and what it takes to protect their population. The area can also be explored on horseback, with guides offering rides for both beginners and experienced riders. Prefer to be out on two wheels? That’s an option too – whether on classic bikes or e-bikes. Either way, a dip in the large pool overlooking Kenya’s endless landscape is the perfect finish of a day that feels effortlessly curated.
