Discovery of the Month
"Room with a view" is an understatement at The Bolder on Norway’s Lysefjord – the vistas from these lodges are simply next level. This secluded hideaway is about 35 minutes from Stavanger. Craving even more jaw-dropping scenery? The newly added Villa The Bolder Wave sits along Norway's North Sea coast. Ready for a coolcation?

The Lodges
Here, nature meets sleek Scandinavian design – and, of course, the mentioned mega-view. The Bolder includes six lodges of varying sizes, located near the famous Preikestolen rock. The smallest and coziest is the Sky Lodge (pictured), with 22 square meters (237 feet) of space. Next up is the Star Lodge, which measures 35 square meters. The most spacious is the Grand Lodge, which sleeps four guests but can seat twelve for dinner. Events can also be held here. All lodges face the Lysefjord, visible day and night through large panoramic windows. A fireplace adds extra coziness in the Grand Lodge. Buy-outs are possible! Good to know: The lodges are rented without meals, but come with a sleek Vipp kitchen. If you don’t want to carry groceries, you can pre-order some before arrival. Don’t feel like cooking? The region offers excellent restaurants, including Michelin-starred Re-naa in Stavanger.

The Bolder Wave
The elegant Villa The Bolder Wave, just a seven-minute drive from Stavanger Airport, has recently joined The Bolder’s portfolio. Located about 50 minutes from the main site, it doesn’t face the Lysefjord but instead looks out onto Norway’s dramatic North Sea coast. Perched on a cliff, The Bolder Wave delivers, you guessed it, mega-views. It’s not quite as quiet as the fjord, but the sound of North Sea waves rolling behind the dunes creates a very special atmosphere. The Bolder Wave sits on a five-hectare property, parts of which are protected land. Inside, the 285-square-meter (3,068 feet) space with three bedrooms features high-end Scandinavian furniture and the usual minimalist design. The terrace faces the sea, with a path leading down to a hidden lagoon – right by one of Norway’s top surf beaches. Also on site: a small Surf Lodge guesthouse. As for food, guests are on their own here too. Cool add-on experiences include culinary highlights as well.
The Experiences
If guests manage to tear themselves away from the views at either location, there’s plenty to experience. At The Bolder, the Lysefjord is the star. Lodge guests can head out on a guided boat tour or rent kayaks on their own. On the culinary side, there’s a cider workshop and a cheese tasting available. Those who want to be pampered in their booked Grand Lodge can opt for the "Culinary Adventure at The Grand Lodge" where a private chef prepares a seasonal menu for up to ten guests. Cooking is also a highlight at The Bolder Wave – but in the wild. The "Wild Cooking Experience" brings gourmet flavors to the outdoors. The concierge team also offers helicopter tours to Salmon Eye, a floating museum in the middle of the fjord. Active guests can take surf lessons at Hellestø Beach, paddle a sea kayak into the North Sea, or squeeze in a round of golf. Fishing trips, guided hikes, and yoga sessions are also on offer.
