Inspirations for Luxury Moments

Get Down, Underground!

Ready for an underground concert experience you'll never forget? Then head on out to Pelham, Tennessee! Grundy County is home to The Caverns, a cave system with more than 2.4 kilometers (1.5mi.) of underground passages and a natural amphitheater. The cave section, known as the Big Mouth because of its special arched entrance, regularly hosts concerts of various musical genres. Anyone who thinks that the experience would be too rustic is very much mistaken! The seated amphitheater can accommodate 850 guests, 1,200 with standing room only. But nobody has to do without comfort – modern facilities including delicious catering and craft beer are provided. More Info

Pajama Party

Good news for fans of the Oetker Collection: you can now experience the Oetker sleep experience at home. Through a cooperation with the New York luxury label La Ligne, an exclusive Oetker edition with a special design has been created for the classic "Bonne Nuit" pajamas. The 100 percent cotton sleepwear is adorned with symbols that allude to the twelve Masterpiece Hotels in the Oetker Collection. That means that anyone with these exclusive PJ sets will go to bed "printed" with chocolate, which stands for The Woodward in Geneva, or with a teapot that stands for The Lanesborough in London. The Oetker pajamas are available at La Ligne and in the boutiques of some Masterpiece Hotels. More Info

Artful Safari, Elevated

What a thrilling surprise: starting this month, the luxury lodge Cheetah Plains in South Africa's Sabi Sands Nature Reserve will function as an art gallery. This is made possible by a partnership with the Goodman Gallery. The 100 contemporary paintings and sculptures all focus on African culture and decorate the lodge's three luxury villas, among other places. Young, up-and-coming African artists in particular were selected for the exhibition. What's more is that these works of art are not just for looking, but can be purchased and delivered with white glove service. More Info

Proper Prospecting

What's that glittering there? Clearly, it's the shimmering purple of the Siberian amethyst. This rare gemstone can only be found in Russia and in Arizona, and now luxury travelers can set out to find it in the latter. The Four Peaks Amethyst Mine is located in the Mazatzal Mountains in the Sonoran Desert, accessible only by helicopter (or a very long hike). The helicopter takes off from Phoenix, around 74 kilometers (46mi.) from the mine. Naturally, taking in the beautiful vistas over the Arizonan landscape is a perk of the flight. Upon arrival, guests learn about the mine and its treasures as part of the Four Peaks Private Amethyst Tour. They're also allowed to dig for amethysts themselves. And yes, should you find anything, you can take home the loot! More Info

Cultural Beat

The Conrad Rangali Maldives has set up a cultural village so that guests can experience how a typical Maldivian community lives. Nerulhu Auah is located on Rangali Island and brings resort guests into the world of the locals. Women from neighboring islands prepare traditional dishes, including fish curries or so-called Maldivian "short eats." Guests can either admire local handcrafts, or look over the locals' shoulders and learn how to do things. Music is also part of it, as Bodu Beru performances are held regularly, where groups of up to 15 men come together to sing, drum, and dance. That's a real sense of place! More Info
