The Tented Suites
Guests of Nambwa Tented Lodge sleep beneath the vast African sky, as the accommodations are set several meters / feet above the ground. All buildings are connected by a walkway that winds through the treetops. And when your guests live that high up, what do they get? Exactly, a jaw-dropping view! Each of the ten tented lodges spans 110 square meters (1,184 square feet), features floor-to-ceiling windows, and includes a private outdoor area where the gaze can drift far into the distance. Often, there’s no need to look far at all: elephants, buffalo, and other wildlife regularly pass by the river that runs through the property to cool off or drink. Every unit includes a bedroom, a cozy lounge area, and an elegant bathroom with a freestanding tub. And for mosquito worriers: the beds are fitted with mosquito nets.

The Culinary
Dinner with a view is definitely part of the deal at Nambwa Tented Lodge. Meals are usually served on the spacious outdoor deck – and if there’s no wildlife to watch, there’s always the sunset over the national park. The food is always freshly prepared and tailored to guests’ preferences; special dietary needs or wishes can be noted at the time of booking. At dawn, tea, coffee, and homemade cookies are delivered directly to the suite. Guests can enjoy them on the terrace while taking in mother nature's grandeur. Good to know: on request, bush dinners, romantic picnics, or riverside sundowners can also be arranged.
The Experiences
Beyond classic safari experiences, the lodge offers something truly special: retreats in the wild. Depending on the retreat’s focus, guests can take part in yoga sessions, shamanic rituals, writing workshops, or mindfulness practices. The retreats are hosted by lodge owner Tinolla Rodgers together with experienced leaders. Guests who prefer to track wildlife can do so on game drives, bush walks (pictured), or boat cruises. By the way: African Monarch Lodges is the only provider licensed to operate bush walks in Bwabwata National Park. Participation is possible from age 12, giving guests the rare chance to get remarkably close to elephants and other wildlife. Fishing excursions are also available, as well as special three-day "Safari for Kids" programs. Of course, bringing a good camera is absolutely mandatory!
