Minke Whale Magic
Watching colorful fish underwater is beautiful – but diving with dwarf minke whales is next level! These "little" whales are friendly, curious, and can be spotted in June and July at the Great Barrier Reef in Queensland, Australia. The underwater magic happens at the Ribbon Reefs near Cooktown, the only place on Earth where dwarf minkes are reliably seen during their migration. Several tour operators in Queensland offer diving trips just for this experience. Fun fact: the name’s a bit misleading – a newborn calf is already two meters long, and a fully grown "dwarf" minke weighs in at six tons. More Info
Ahoy, Amsterdam!
This is a rare treat: Sail Amsterdam only happens once every five years! From August 20 to 23, more than 800 ships from around the globe – including breathtaking tall ships – will gather in the Dutch capital. For front-row views of the majestic parade of windjammers, check into Hotel De L’Europe, perfectly perched on the Amstel River. Their "Sail Stay Packag" includes two nights with breakfast, which guests can enjoy aboard a historic salon boat cruise. Want to take it up a notch? Add-on experiences like sailing on one of the windjammers during the parade are available, too. More Info
