Luxury Ambassador of the Month
Petar Stoyanov, General Manager Luxutour ยท Bulgaria
What sparked your passion for luxury travel?
"For a long time, I did not consciously realize where my passion for travel came from. Only later did I understand that it had always been there. As a child, I would look up at airplanes crossing the sky and imagine what it must feel like to sit inside one of them, to see the world from above. Today, what I love most is seeing how travel transforms people. It is witnessing how a journey makes someone softer, more curious, more open. We make people happy. We change their perspective. We educate without preaching, simply by exposing them to new worlds, cultures and ways of thinking. Travel is one of the most refined forms of personal growth, and being part of that process is deeply fulfilling."

Which travel themes do you specialize in?
"At Luxutour, we specialize in high-end experiential travel across the Indian Ocean, Africa, the Middle East, and selected destinations in Asia and Europe. Our focus is on luxury, tailor-made journeys that combine privacy, authenticity, and lifetime experiences. I am particularly drawn to island destinations such as Mauritius, the Maldives, and the Seychelles, as well as safari experiences in Africa. These regions offer a rare balance between raw natural beauty and refined hospitality. What fascinates me most is how seamlessly luxury can coexist with nature when done responsibly and thoughtfully."
What is your goal with the Association of Bulgarian Tour Operators & Travel Agents?
"I accepted the role of Chairman because I believe our industry needs strong representation, strategic vision, and long-term thinking. Tourism is not just a commercial activity; it is an economic and cultural pillar. My goal is to strengthen the professional standards of the sector, advocate for fair regulatory frameworks, and promote a shift from volume-driven tourism to value-driven tourism. I want Bulgarian tourism to be associated with quality, sustainability, and credibility on the international stage."
What do you think is the greatest challenge for travel agencies nowadays?
"Digital platforms, A.I., and direct booking models have considerably transformed consumer behavior. Now, travel agencies around the globe have to redefine their role not as intermediaries, but as trusted advisors and curators of complex, high-value experiences. I am convinced that those agencies that will thrive are those that will continue to offer expertise, personalization, and strategic thinking qualities to their clients that algorithms alone cannot replace."
What has been your top goosebump moment on a trip?
"There have been many powerful moments over the years, but one will always stay with me: Watching the first light of sunrise slowly spill across the savannah in Botswana, in complete silence. No engines, no distant cities, no human noise. Just the earth breathing and nature awakening. In that stillness, you feel small in the most beautiful way, humbled by the vastness around you, yet deeply connected to it. And I have felt that same quiet intensity again, standing barefoot on the terrace of a water villa in the Maldives. In those moments, time seems to dissolve."
What destinations remain on your personal bucket list??
"There are still places I look forward to experiencing myself. Australia and New Zealand are high on my list. I am curious to explore their vast landscapes and feel that sense of openness and scale in person. French Polynesia has also long been somewhere I want to visit, not only for its beauty but for the calm and simplicity it represents. Hawaii is also on my list, with its natural scenery and unique island culture. No matter how much you travel, there are always places you still dream about discovering."
