Discovery of the Month

Hellas at its best! There is a piece of Greek history lying in wait for all guests of the Theoxenia Mykonos. While the boutique hotel has been around since 1960, it's just been extensively renovated. The location in Mykonos town is very special, because the listed historic buildings of the property are just a few steps away from the ancient windmills of Chora, famous for the views over the azure hues of the Aegean Sea.

Accommodations

With only 49 rooms and suites, the number of different categories is astonishing โ€“ 12 in total. At 240 square feet, the Cozy Room is quite small, while the Grand Suite is 730 square feet and has a large outdoor area. All suites at the Theoxenia Mykonos, a member of Design Hotels, have a private pool. What they all have in common is the elegance of the accommodations, that are decorated in warm shades of beige and white, and gracefully blend with the landscape. The rooms feature high-end eyecatchers. Another nice detail: the walls of the seven hotel buildings were made of the same stones that were used for the shore wall of the island.

Culinary

When a restaurant is in the Mediterranean, it's of course perfectly suited to serve this kind of cuisine. The Lanai Restaurant, which is part of Theoxenia Mykonos, flaunts its authentic taste without making a big fuss by drawing from regional ingredients. The Myconian Salad is a must-try. Before or after, there are plenty of cocktails for hotel guests to discover at the Kou Kou Bar. A mixologist serves unusual creations with regional speciality spirits. The Mediterraneo, for example, consists of passion fruit, limes, syrup, and mint. Wine fans can book a wine tasting, which is accompanied by a pairing menu. More casual are the picnics on the beach, where guests can enjoy the sunset and a spread of Greek delicacies.

Experiences

Mykonos is begging to be explored. Theoxenia Mykonos' concierge can introduce guests to typical island life and show them the most beautiful spots. Excursions can also be booked, like a boat trip to the islands of Delos or Rinia. Guests who prefer to stay at the hotel can enjoy various activities among the olive trees and succulents in the approximately 11,000 square foot garden. Practice tai chi, meditation, or yoga, or take a board out on the water. Want a souvenir? Visit the studio! Here, a local artist helps make soap from high-quality olive oil and herbs. At the bar, the mixologist reveals some of his moves with the shaker. Cheers!
