In the very south of Switzerland travelers can find Alpine coziness with a refined touch. In Zermatt, the Cervo offers three different types of accommodation – from premium class to true luxury. The hotel sees itself as a refuge for global nomads who value sustainability, but at the same time are looking for a cool mix between traditional alpine culture and modernity.

The Accommodations

To be clear, the Cervo's expansive grounds accommodate three different hotels, each of which are independently run and offer their own flavors of style, design, and wellness. While the Nomad is a bit more down-to-earth with a total of twelve suites and one room, the Alpinist (pictured) and The Huntsman Lodge are at the highest five-star level. With 28 rooms and seven suites, the Alpinist has plenty of options that cater to various group sizes. Plus, each accommodation here has a cool private bar for well-earned drinks after an exciting day in the mountains. The Huntsman Lodge, on the other hand, has just three suites and one room – but it offers the option of booking a private chef. Cervo is a member of the Virtuoso network.

The Culinary

Are you on a Swiss kick? Or do you have a hankering for delights from Italy or the Far East? The sky's the limit at the Cervo, which caters to a variety of tastes. Take the Ferdinand restaurant, for example, that exclusively uses produce from Switzerland – and if possible, even from only the home canton of Valais. Italian specialties are served at Madre Nostra, and their ingredients also come from the local region. The pasta is homemade, of course! But the mecca for vegetarians is the Bazaar (pictured), which is not only a gourmet temple but also a popular meeting spot among guests with its cozy, eastern ambience. But keep those eyes peeled – if you're not careful you'll miss the hidden Grapes & Juniper wine cellar. There are 40 gin varieties within just waiting to be released from the bottle!

The Spa

It's abundantly clear that, even at first glance, there's nothing plain or ordinary about the Ashram Mountain Spa. Between the tea yurt (pictured) and the Japanese onsen, there's a lot to discover that goes beyond a normal spa. The equipment of the holistic wellness oasis includes a steam bath and an outdoor sauna. The treatments offer and incorporate methods from across Asia, and a ritual room can't be missed. Guests who are looking for wellbeing at the Cervo can practice yoga and Pilates, or try out a sound meditation. Massages and other treatments can also be booked, and are performed in one of three treatment rooms. One of them is tailored for couples. Classic massages and facials are also available of course!
